Research Funding Disclosure

At North J Med Sci, we believe in the importance of transparency in the research process. This is why we require all authors to make a “Research Funding Disclosure”. This disclosure should clearly state whether the research was self-funded or received funding from other sources.

The “Research Funding Disclosure” should also clarify the role of the sponsor or funding source. This is to avoid any confusion about the extent of the sponsor’s involvement in the study. If the sponsor was only involved in specific steps of the study, such as study design, data collection, analysis, reporting, manuscript preparation, or result deduction, this should be clearly stated. The primary author will be held accountable for the data interpreted in the study and the decision to publish the study.

The disclosure can be made in several places during the submission process:

A: IN THE MANUSCRIPT ITSELF: The best place for the disclosure is at the end of the manuscript, before the bibliography section begins. Any acknowledgments or declarations of competing interests should have been made before this section. If there is no funding to disclose, it should be specifically stated as “none to disclose”.

B: AS A SEPARATE FILE IN STEP 2 OF THE SUBMISSION PROCESS: The file should indicate that it contains a “Research Funding Disclosure”. If there is no funding to disclose, it should be specifically stated in the same file or in the manuscript as explained above, i.e., “none to disclose”.

C: IN STEP 3 OF THE SUBMISSION PROCESS: During this step, authors are required to enter the meta-data of their research article. This data includes the title of the article, the abstract, list of contributors with the checkbox ‘primary contact’ selected against the details of the corresponding author, and more supplementary data such as source of the work, keywords, supporting agencies, if any, references, and “Research Funding Disclosure”. The funding data should include the Funder’s name and identification and grant number. Click save and continue after the information is added.
