How-to Guides

The North Journal of Medical Sciences (NJMS), a peer-reviewed, open-access medical research journal, is excited to announce a new initiative aimed at empowering budding researchers. We understand the challenges faced by those entering the field of medical research, particularly in areas such as epidemiology and biostatistics. To address this, we will be publishing a series of “How-To” guides that will provide a gentle introduction to these complex subjects.

These guides will not only cover the theoretical aspects of epidemiology and biostatistics but will also delve into the practical aspects of data analysis. We recognize the importance of mastering software tools in today’s research landscape. Therefore, our guides will include comprehensive tutorials on widely-used data analysis software such as Excel, LibreOffice Calc, IBM SPSS, and GNU PSPP.

Excel and LibreOffice Calc, while seemingly simple, can be powerful tools when used correctly. Our guides will help you unlock their full potential, making tasks like data cleaning, sorting, and basic statistical analysis more manageable.

For more advanced statistical analysis, IBM SPSS and GNU PSPP are often the go-to tools. Our guides will provide step-by-step instructions on how to use these software packages, from data input and manipulation to running complex statistical tests.

But we won’t stop there. We understand that the learning process doesn’t end with knowing how to use the software. Therefore, our guides will also include tips and tricks to make data analysis easier and more efficient, regardless of the software you choose to use.

In addition to these software-focused guides, we will also cover related topics that are crucial for any researcher. These include research design, data collection methods, ethical considerations in research, and more.

We believe that these guides will be a valuable resource for anyone embarking on a journey into medical research. They will provide the foundational knowledge needed to navigate the complex world of epidemiology, biostatistics, and data analysis.

Stay tuned for our upcoming “How-To” guides and join us in our mission to make medical research more accessible to all.
